Hundreds Gathered for the Funeral of Alice Da Silva Aguiar

Southport, Merseyside

11th August, 2022

Hundreds of mourners lined the streets of Southport today for the funeral of Alice Da Silva Aguiar, one of the three girls killed in a knife attack during a Taylor Swift themed sleepover last weekend.

Alice, nine, was described by her family as a "kind and caring" girl who loved to sing and dance. She was a pupil at Christ The King Catholic Primary School in Southport.

Her funeral service was held at Holy Trinity Church in Southport, and was attended by her parents, siblings, and friends. The service was led by Father John McIntosh, who described Alice as a "beautiful and innocent child who was taken from us too soon."

After the service, Alice's coffin was carried to Southport Cemetery, where she was laid to rest. Mourners released balloons into the sky in her memory.

Alice's death has shocked and saddened the Southport community. A vigil was held in her memory on Monday night, and a fundraising page has been set up to help her family with funeral costs.

The investigation into Alice's death is ongoing. A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.
