Gasperinis Atalanta Handed Shock Defeat By Mourinhos Roma

Gasperini's Atalanta handed shock defeat by Mourinho's Roma

Atalanta's winless run extends to three matches

Atalanta were dealt a blow in their pursuit of a top-four finish in Serie A as they were beaten 1-0 at home by Jose Mourinho's Roma on Sunday.

The hosts had the better of the chances in the first half but were unable to find a breakthrough, with Roma goalkeeper Rui Patricio making a number of fine saves.

Roma took the lead in the second half through a Tammy Abraham goal, and despite Atalanta's best efforts, they were unable to find an equaliser.

Abraham's goal lifts Roma into fifth place

Abraham's goal was his seventh in Serie A this season, and it helped Roma move up to fifth place in the table, just two points behind Atalanta.

The win was Mourinho's first against Atalanta since taking over as Roma manager in the summer, and it will give his side a huge boost in their bid to qualify for the Champions League.
